It's quiet and magical. You are in the Heart of Lapland in our family's wilderness cottage called Lompero. Sauna is an important part of the Lappish lifestyle. This sauna session takes place in a wood-heated sauna building, which has a sauna room and a cozy dressing room. The sauna is located by a small pond in the middle of a beautiful winter landscape. The water is traditionally carried from a pond where it flows from a spring. The sauna and washing water are heated by fire, traditionally with wood from our own forest. As the sauna fire lights up the sauna, the scent of summer herbs from Lapland also pours in. The herbs have been gathered in the summer from the surrounding area. From them we have prepared a foot bath, sauna steam water and "vasta" which will give you a special sauna experience with their health-promoting properties. For the bath products we have selected natural products made by local small entrepreneurs. There is an opening in the ice of the pond where, with our guidance, you can take a dip in and cool your body from the soothing heat of the sauna. In addition to the sauna, we will serve you a small homemade savouty from local products.
This activity includes:
* Welcoming treat
* Traditional wood-fired sauna in the Lapland wilderness.
* Instruction on sauna behavior, herbs and how to dip into icy water correctly.
* Bathing in the icy pond
* Footbath, steam sauna water and “vasta” (birch whisk used in sauna) made from Lapland herbs.
* High quality detergents made by local small entrepreneurs
* Towels (Please, bring your own swimsuit, extra socks and a hat for ice-swimming).
* Lappish savory served to the sauna and sauna drink
Points to note:
* A minimum of 2 adults or a price of 2 is required to complete this activity.
* This experience can be combined with Snowshoeing Excursion in the Wilderness and/or wilderness dining.
* Our guests staying at Taavetti cottage, Siikkis cabin and Kaamos apartment receive a -10% discount on the experience packages on the list.
* After the price for two adults, children under 12 years get -50%.
* The sauna can accommodate a maximum of four people at a time. If there are more participants, we take turns.
* Dipping into icy the pond is only available during safe ice conditions.
* Booking enquiries and reservations are made by contacting us.
* This activity is private. Once the booking fee or payment has been made, the calendar day will be closed and reserved for you.
* This activity takes place in a real wilderness setting on our private land (from Rovaniemi ~60 km Ranua ~50km). You will receive more detailed driving instructions upon booking confirmation.
* Transportation must be arranged separately and is not included in the price. (Pickup and drop off from Rovaniemi at an additional cost of 70€/car)
* We offer home made food. Meat and vegetarian version of the snack available. Please also let us know in your booking if you have any dietary restrictions and if you prefer vegetarian version.
* You are free to enjoy your own alcoholic beverages if you wish.
*** There may be changes to the planned program if the weather in Lapland so requires.
*** The guests must have their own insurance and participate in the activities at their own risk, as instructed by the guide.
*** Prices include taxes payable in Finland.
*** Once the booking fee has been paid, the service is confirmed to you. The booking fee is 50% of the total amount of the invoice. The balance must be paid in advance or on the spot by cash or card before the service starts.
*** Cancellation policy: Receive a 100% refund if you cancel up to 7 days before the experience begins. If you cancel up to 3 days before, you can still receive a 50% refund.
*** The booking fee and payment can be paid in advance through the Pay Pal invoice, Zettle payment link by card and mobile wallets, by bank transfer to the accaunt. Payment on the spot can be made by card or cash.
